Position Overview 
Reporting to the VP of Procurement, the Demand Planning Manager will be at the helm of our demand planning function, ensuring our inventory levels are perfectly aligned with market demand and customer needs. 
You will play a crucial role in driving efficiency, enhancing service levels, and supporting our growth ambitions. Key responsibilities will include developing and implementing robust demand forecasting models and processes to accurately predict customer demand through our new GAINS Demand Planning System; collaborating closely with sales, marketing, and branch managers to ensure alignment on demand planning strategies and initiatives including promotional activities; and using advanced analytics and data-driven insights to drive inventory optimization and reduce excess stock. 
Position Responsibilities 
Demand Planning 
  • Develop and continuously improve demand planning initiatives and demand forecasts. 
  • Ensure full and successful deployment of GAINS Demand Planning System across the business including new acquisitions as needed.  
  • Become subject matter expert in Gains Demand Planning System and other future systems associated with demand planning.  
  • Ensure effective key performance indicators (KPIS) and reporting in place in GAINS and via Power BI dashboards.  
  • Lead the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process to align demand with supply plans while collaborating cross-functionality with other stakeholders 
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels and further develop strategy and processes to prevent excess while ensuring product availability. 
  • Supports promotion and new business opportunity through demand management and updates to GAINS to support. 
  • Responsible to achieve all corporate goals on working capital and terms improvement, inventory turns, order fill rate, dead stock \ slow moving, EBITDA improvement, and service level targets are met. 
 
Team Leadership 
  • Oversee a team of demand planners/others, providing support,  guidance, and training while continuously improving. 
  • Ensures team has the highest level of responsiveness, and addresses issues and expedites in a timely manner to ensure highest level of service delivery.  
  • Performs personnel functions such as selection, training, and evaluation including conducting interviews, making hiring decisions, participating in onboarding activities, coaching and development.  
  • Completes team assessment and developmental path. Ensures metrics are in place to measure performance (stock outs, purchase order status and processing, cost savings, etc.).  
 
Customer Service 
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on KPIs for/to leadership, including use of Power BI
  • Maintains strong working relationships with key stakeholders including branch managers and inside sales team. 
  • Supports Category Manager in implementation of purchasing and sourcing strategies in terms of demand forecasting and inventory positioning. 
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to develop and implement strategies in the region to drive growth and EBITA improvement through demand planning and alignment to financial goals. 
  • Supports acquisition integration as needed. 
 
What You’ll Need for Success 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Supply Chain or a related field 
  • 5+ years’ experience in Supply Chain with additional experience in Demand or Supply Planning, preferably in a distribution business 
  • 3+ years’ experience in  Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) or Sales Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) 
  • Prior experience with demand planning software systems, preferably GAINS, and with ERP solutions, preferably Netsuite and Epicor Prophet 21 
  • Proven experience leading teams, preferably in a matrixed environment 
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to collaborate both within and outside of the department and present to variety of stakeholders 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and drive strategies in planning and buying functions 
  • Demonstrated use of metrics and KPIs to monitor and drive goals
