Reporting to the Vice President of Supply Chain, the Director of Distribution is responsible for leading the operations of our Distribution Center network, providing a safe work environment to our teammates, and working with internal and external stakeholders to consistently fulfill our customer order needs with the service that differentiates Colony Hardware. The Director of Distribution will work with the branches to share best practices and drive continuous improvement in warehousing operations. 

A Little About Your Day: You will: 

  • Provide leadership to a team of Distribution Center Managers and associates to drive continuous improvement in the distribution center and warehouse operations, including safety, strategy, processes, and efficiency.
  • Ensure the team is responsive to daily internal customer demand and drives a bias for proactive action.
  • Develop and use metrics and KPIs to measure performance across all relevant areas of DC and delivery performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure processes are standardized, scalable, and sustainable across all ERP platforms.
  • Manage all inventory management processes in the DCs to ensure high inventory accuracy (cycle counting, physical inventory, etc.)
  • Ensure efficient operation of DCs through workflow analysis, slotting updates and use of lean techniques to streamline operations on a continuous basis.
  • Work cross-functionally to develop and implement training programs for our associates.
  • Work with our Transportation Director to optimize the use of the carrier network, address any issues, and drive effective utilization of our spending.
  • Work with Branch Managers and suppliers to optimize processes and drive efficiencies.
  • Support acquisition integration.
  • Ensure DCs have resources and processes to support the fast growth of the business while continuously optimizing the flow of information and product to/from the DC and the branches
  • Perform staffing functions such as selection, training, and evaluation including conducting interviews, making hiring decisions, and participating in onboarding activities.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop existing employees and resolve performance problems and discrepancies.
  • Conduct timely performance evaluations by monitoring performance and initiating action to strengthen results with goal setting including periodic one on one meetings with direct reports.

What You’ll Need to Have for success: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related discipline. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience leading multi-site distribution center operations in North America
  • Minimum 10 years of successful distribution center, warehousing, or logistics combined experience.
